Award-winning independent wine merchant, Caviste, was established in 2003 by winemaker David Thomas, originally under the name of The Cellar Door. Its three Hampshire shops, based in Overton, Stockbridge and Newlyns Farm Shop, near Odiham, showcase the best that winemaking has to offer – from established classic producers to the emerging stars of the New and Old World; and from everyday drinking choices to wines for entertaining, special occasions and for cellaring.
Caviste’s constantly evolving wine list celebrates the small, independent producer, with many wines discovered whilst in the vineyards of the world’s most exciting wine regions. With wines open for tasting throughout the week, often with visiting winemakers and producers at weekends, as well as tutored tastings and educational courses throughout the year, Caviste’s calendar of events captures the enjoyment and excitement of wine.
Caviste Overton The first of the Caviste shops opened in 2003, under the name of The Cellar Door. Set in the pretty North Hampshire village of Overton in the Upper Test Valley, our Overton branch has, over the past four years, established the company’s reputation as one of the UK’s leading independent wine merchants, reaching the finals of the Independent Wine Retailer of the Year Awards and winning the New Zealand Wine Growers Association competition amongst UK independents.
Caviste Stockbridge Linked to our Overton location by the River Test, Caviste’s second shop, opened in April 2007, is situated in the historical market town of Stockbridge in the heart of the Test Valley, between Winchester and Salisbury. From its picturesque courtyard setting opposite The Greyhound on the High Street, our Stockbridge branch brings Caviste’s award-winning combination of high-quality wines and friendly, knowledgeable advice to wine lovers in the South Hampshire area.
Caviste Odiham From November 2008 you’ll be able to find two of Hampshire’s leading food and wine shops under one roof, as we open our new shop at Hampshire Life’s Best Farm Shop 2008 - Newlyns Farm Shop, near Odiham.
