Alluviale Sauvignon Blanc 2009

Alluviale is the product of a love affair between Kate Galloway, wine maker at Alpha Domus, and her partner David Ramonteu, son of Jurancon wine producer Henri, of Domaine Couhapé. These two superb winemakers and ‘terroirists’  identified Mangatahi as a truly unique area for growing Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon and making a richer, more complex style of white wine an atypical Kiwi Sauvignon style and one born from a love of Bordeaux whites.

Alluviale is made without the use of chemicals, and only mineral sulphur is used at the end of the elevage prior to bottling. Ferments and ageing are done in a mix of barrique and specially made steel tanks shaped like long barrels to maximise lees contact and thus increase complexity. The wine is beautifully balanced, with racy acidity and concentrated grapefruit and honeysuckle fruit and will age for several years to come. Drink with fresh seafood, Thai spiced dishes and white meats.

Alluviale Sauvignon Blanc 2009 @ £14.95 per 75cl.
Caviste are thrilled to be able to be the first wine merchant in the UK to offer this amazing wine, and you will find the red blend too arriving during the spring which is unsurprisingly a fabulous cross of New Zealand fruit and Bordeaux complexity and styling.
